This is an exquisitely detailed HOT CASTED sculpture of German born August-Karl-Edouard Kiss's Amazon attacked by a tiger. A rendition created by the Paulingston Co.

Kiss' Amazon on Horseback Attacked by a Tiger, a group of intense drama and power, was undoubtedly the sensation of the sculpture shown at the Great Exhibition in 1851 and was awarded a top Council Medal as well as receiving widespread popular acclaim. It was however modelled as early as 1837 and exhibited for the first time in 1839: this led to a full-scale commission for a cast in iron, executed by the August Fischer foundry in 1842 and sponsored by Kaiser Wilhelm IV. The following year it was installed outside the stairs of Schinkel's Altes Museum in Berlin, where it remains to the present day. For the Great Exhibition, the model was cast in zinc by the Moritz Geiss foundry: spelter casting was very much at the vanguard of technical development at the time, and Kiss was no doubt interested to pursue alternative casting techniques having served an apprenticeship at an iron foundry in Gleiwitz, near his home town of Paprotzan in Upper Silesia.
